Cranberry and walnut, with dried pineapple and a little black plum as it cools. For a natural process it's surprisingly clean with no earthiness, just fruit.
If you like fruit-forward coffees that aren't sour, this one's hard to put down.
Grown at 2,200 meters in the Chelchele sub-region of Gedeb, this is a rare single-farm natural from Shitaye Abebe — an unusually large producer in a region where most farmers tend less than a hectare and sell their cherries to communal mills. These JARC heirloom varieties, dried whole on raised beds under full sun, produce a dry process coffee that's remarkably clean and refined — juicy and fruit-forward without any of the funky earthiness the method can sometimes bring.
The coffee was milled at the nearby Chelbesa Danche station, run by SNAP Specialty Coffee.
