Most office coffee is a pod machine and a sigh. The fix isn't expensive, though. It's fresh beans, one decent grinder, and a weekly delivery so nobody has to think about it. Here's how much a small team usually needs and how to set it up.
01how much coffee a team drinks
The rule of thumb is one cup a day per person on weekdays at 15 grams a cup, and it's worth rounding up, because nobody ever complains about extra coffee.
02the gear that matters
A burr grinder is the whole upgrade, since grinding fresh is most of the difference between good coffee and office coffee. A batch brewer with a thermal carafe keeps it hot without cooking it, so you can skip the hot plate.
For espresso drinkers, a superautomatic is fine if you feed it fresh beans. The machine isn't the problem. The beans sitting in the hopper usually are.
03what a weekly sub looks like
We supply East Bay offices on a weekly or every two weeks schedule. You tell us how many people you have, and we send the right amount, roasted that week. You can pause whenever the office is empty.
It costs a little more per pound than a warehouse supplier, but it costs a lot less than the cafe runs your team is doing now.
04common questions
About a third of a pound per person per week at one cup a day, so a team of 15 needs about 5 pounds.
